Main Objective of the Role
The ward aid is accountable to the Incharge – OPD for the delivery of high quality care to the patients. The Ward Aid is responsible for the complete nursing care of the patient assigned to her. To bare primary responsibility and accountability in delegating and assisting in the provision of quality comprehensive nursing care to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for basic bedside nursing care.
- Ensure the OPD is set for consultation
- Setting up procedure trays and dress trolleys and assisting doctor in procedures and dressings.
- Assist in transportation of patients whenever necessary.
- Assist consultants in OPD consult Rooms.
- Follow strictly all safety measures involved in patient care.
- To maintain a cordial interpersonal relationship within the unit, support departments, patient and doctor.
- To be aware of patient rights and preserve the same.
- To handle with care and with knowledge all gadgets used in patient care in OPD.
- To pack and transport the instruments for autoclave and gas sterilization.
- To assist the collection of specimen or wound cultures other than blood.
- To assist in ECG and NST recording
- Attend in service programs and trainings to enhance knowledge.
- To maintain strict discipline and decorum at all times.
- To be aware of the NABH standards and implement wherever necessary.
- To be more contented with infection control practices.
- Report unethical practice and sentinel events to the HOD.
- To be aware of all emergency codes.
Major Job Qualifications / Specific Skills
Required Education: ANM Course
Experience: 1 – 7 Years
Knowledge and Specific Skills:
Clinical Skills, Knowledge of handling clinical & biomedical instrument, Documentation skills, People Skills, Follow Safety Precaution
Required Critical Behavioral Competencies:
Communication/ Attitude and confidence. Teamwork Critical thinking and creative problem solving/Empathy/ Conflict resolution
