Even with diet and exercise, many people have stubborn pockets of fat that seem impossible to lose. Body contouring is able to target these areas- helping patients achieve their desired shape.
At Motherhood Hospitals, we have senior team of plastic & cosmetics surgeon, who offers various services like Abdominoplasty, Body lift procedures, Post weight loss, Arm (brachioplasty), Butt lift, Thigh lift, Liposuction and Labiaplasty.
Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure in which excess skin and fatty tissue are removed from lower and middle abdomen area. It targets to remove the excess tissues along with addressing the weak abdominal muscles that can be tightened with the help of suturing (plication) of abdominal muscles. There are specific indications for the Abdominoplasty surgery, as it is not considered as a treatment for obesity or overweight. The doctors often advise a patient to lose weight before considering any body contouring procedures. Every Plastic surgeon has a certain preference and technique of performing the abdominoplasty, which may be combined with other body contouring procedures.
Body lift procedures – This is a surgical procedure in which fatty tissue and excessive skin is removed from either upper or lower body areas. A lower body lift specifically removes the excessive hanging tissue from abdomen, flanks, buttocks, outer thighs, and lower back areas and tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall. Whereas the upper body lift is done to remove the similar tissues in the upper back. There are several methods of performing these procedures depending upon the technique and expertise of the plastic surgeon. Body lift surgery can be combined with other forms of body contouring procedures, including liposuction or other common elective surgical procedure. A medical evaluation should be performed including lab and radiological investigation, for all patients considering the body contouring procedures.
Post weight loss – Women who have lost a significant amount of weight and suffer from excessive skin laxity may benefit from a post-bariatric procedure. In general, it is best to delay body contouring until a stable weight has been reached for 6 months, which generally corresponds to about 1 year after bypass or banding surgery. As different areas of the body may respond differently to massive weight loss, a variety of surgical procedures may be needed in order to maximize the results. A consultation with one of our surgeons will allow us to formulate a plan for you to reach your post weight loss goals.
Arm (brachioplasty) – Brachioplasty or Arm Lift is a surgical procedure that targets to remove the excess skin and fatty tissue from upper arm and axillary region. This procedure has specific indications therefore it is not ideal for patient with obesity. Obese or overweight patients should seek other form of weight loss methods or surgery. Brachioplasty is often combined with other surgical procedure including upper body lift and breast surgeries. It can also be combined with liposuction of the other areas of the body.
Butt lift – A buttock lift is a surgical procedure that may remove excess skin and fat tissue from the hips, outer thighs, back, and buttocks. The procedure may also include liposuction, butt implants and/or fat grafting (reinjection of the fat or liposculpting) of these areas for shaping or volume enhancement. There are a variety of techniques that are used by plastic surgeons for a buttock lift. A buttock lift can be combined with other forms of body-contouring surgery, including suction-assisted lipectomy, or performed at the same time with other elective surgeries.
Thigh lift – A medial (inner) thigh lift is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissues from the thighs. A medial thigh lift is not a surgical treatment for being overweight. Obese individuals who intend to lose weight should postpone all forms of body contouring surgery until they have reached a stable weight. There are a variety of techniques that are used by plastic surgeons for a medial thigh lift. A medial thigh lift can be combined with other forms of body-contouring surgery, including suction-assisted lipectomy (liposuction), or performed at the same time with other elective surgeries.
Liposuction –Also called suction-assisted lipectomy, this is a surgical procedure performed by using a hollow metal surgical instrument known as a cannula which is attached to a vacuum source, that provides suction needed to remove the fatty tissues. In some situations, a special cannula may be used that emits ultrasonic energy, laser energy, or a jet of water, to break down fatty deposits. Depending on your needs, your surgeon may recommend suction-assisted lipectomy alone, or in combination with another technique. Liposuction may be performed under local, sedation, or general anaesthesia. Tumescent liposuction technique involves the infiltration of fluid containing dilute local anaesthetic and epinephrine into areas of fatty deposits. This technique can reduce discomfort at the time of surgery, blood loss, and post-operative bruising. Compression support garments and dressings are worn to control swelling and promote healing.
Labiaplasty – Labiaplasty is offered to women with excessive, redundant labia who suffer from unsightly contour lines and physical discomfort. Such women report pinching or chafing when sitting or walking, hindrance during intercourse, and difficulty maintaining hygiene during menses or after defecation. This includes reduction in size of the labia minora. The labia minora are the bands of tissues on either side of the vagina that are directly inside the labia majora. These two flaps of skin extend down from the clitoris. Hormonal changes in the body brought on by pregnancy, puberty, menopause and age, enlarge and darken the colour of these tissues. Many women find these changes particularly disturbing as they may be obvious to them and their sexual partners. Labiaplasty is one of the most common genital rejuvenation procedures performed. The aim of this surgery is to reduce the labia minora, not to completely remove them.
