But don’t worry; gynaecological problems during pregnancy are perfectly common since your body tends to go through a range of adjustments. If you are facing a gynaecological problem, then please do consult with your healthcare specialist at the earliest. If it is left unattended, then it can pose a risk to you as well as your little one inside.
Given below are few gynaecological problems those moms-to-be experiences that should not be ignored. If you are experiencing any of the below-given issues, we suggest you consult with your Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the earliest.
Bleeding during pregnancy can be due to major or minor changes in the body. The causes of it can be anything like implantation bleeding, cervical bleeding or an infection. To know more, please consult the specialist. You can even try Motherhood. Our team of experts will study your case carefully and give you the best multidisciplinary treatment available.
2. Ectopic Pregnancy
Normally the fertilized egg implants in the uterus for further growth and development. In a few cases, the implantation happens in the fallopian tube. This can result in the rupturing of the fallopian tube causing bleeding. Ectopic pregnancy is not a small thing; therefore, it should not be ignored!
Miscarriage is when the embryo dies inside the uterus. It generally happens in the first three months of pregnancy. It is characterized by cramping and bleeding.
4. Placental Abruption
Here, the placenta gets detached from the uterine wall during pregnancy. It can also happen during the delivery. Placenta is an organ that supplies blood (oxygen & nutrients) to the growing foetus inside; hence a placental abruption is a severe complication if it’s not detected early enough.
5. Placenta Previa
It is a condition where the placenta entirely or partially blocks the baby’s way to the cervix. This happens when the placenta lies low. This issue generally revolves as the due date approaches; if not then you might need to have a caesarean delivery.
6. Major Infections
Certain severe infections like the sexually transmitted infections (Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea), TB, HIV, or hepatitis causes a major threat for you and the baby. Therefore, take screening and treatment for these infections, and vaccinations seriously when you are carrying a child.
7. Minor Infections
Diseases such as thrush or bacterial vaginosis or flu is not serious but should be controlled at the earliest.
8. Molar Pregnancy
Usually, the fertilized egg or the embryo implants itself in the uterine wall and starts developing there, but in a few cases, the foetus does not develop properly. Instead, you can see (through an ultrasound) a clump of abnormal cells growing there. This can give a positive pregnancy test and sometimes result in slight bleeding.
9. Vaginal Irritation
Every mother-to-be is going through enormous bodily changes. These changes can be seen through a large quantity of vaginal discharge which can cause irritation to the vagina. Please avoid using products without consulting your healthcare specialist because certain products can also irritate the vagina.
