Not all rashes in babies are caused by chickenpox, as many are due to common viral infections, heat rash, eczema, allergic reactions, or environmental factors. Most infant rashes are harmless and resolve on their own, but parents should watch for symptoms like high fever, poor feeding, or unusual behaviour. Early evaluation helps ensure proper diagnosis and treatment when required. Dr Jagdish Kathawate, Consultant Neonatologist and Paediatrician at Motherhood Hospital, Kharadi, explains that chickenpox typically presents with fever and fluid-filled blisters, while many viral rashes appear after fever and settle within a few days with supportive care and monitoring.
