Dr. Abhilasha Somashekhar

Dr. Abhilasha Somashekhar is a dedicated Paediatric ENT specialist with over 10 years of experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions in children. Her clinical expertise is rooted in a strong academic foundation and a deep commitment to delivering comprehensive, child-centered care. She completed her MBBS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and pursued her MS in ENT from the esteemed Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI). Recognizing her passion for paediatric care, Dr. Abhilasha underwent a specialized Fellowship in Paediatric ENT at a renowned tertiary care children’s hospital under RGUHS. This was followed by a senior residency focused exclusively on paediatric patients. This intensive training has equipped her with advanced skills in managing complex ENT disorders in children, including congenital anomalies, airway issues, hearing loss, and recurrent infections. To further enhance her ability to deliver holistic care, Dr. Abhilasha has completed certification courses in allergy, as well as vertigo and balance disorders—conditions commonly encountered in paediatric ENT practice. Her multidisciplinary approach ensures that children receive not only ENT-focused care but also management for related systemic conditions. Dr. Abhilasha is actively involved in academic research and has authored several publications in reputed national and international journals. Her clinical practice is distinguished by her gentle approach with children, keen diagnostic skills, and dedication to improving paediatric ENT outcomes through both hands-on practice and continuous learning.

Awards and Recognition

• Won the Best Junior Consultant Paper Award for her work on Choanal Atresia (a developmental anomaly of the nose) at an annual national conference in 2024.
• Received a Research Grant from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for a project on Tuberculosis under the Short-Term Studentship (STS) program during her MBBS.
• Honoured with Lifetime Membership of the Neuro-Otological and Equilibriometric Society of India by Yenepoya University, in recognition of being one of the toppers in the certification course.
