A recent Bangalore Mirror feature highlighted a sudden seasonal rise in influenza cases in Bengaluru, especially among children with high fever and mild respiratory symptoms. Dr. Aniruddha Konar, Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at Motherhood Hospitals, Sarjapur, explained that children can be more vulnerable due to close interaction in schools, poor ventilation, low mask usage, shared play areas, and delayed vaccination, while stressing that influenza vaccination remains an important preventive step to reduce illness severity and complications.
