A recent health feature highlighted the decline in exclusive breastfeeding rates among infants under six months in India, based on NFHS-6 data. Dr. Gazala Khan, Lactation Consultant at Motherhood Hospitals, Lullanagar, Pune, explained that first-time mothers, C-section recovery, lack of lactation support, misinformation, workplace challenges, and early feeding difficulties can affect breastfeeding continuation, stressing the need for counselling during pregnancy, post-delivery support, family involvement, and better workplace policies.
