A recent Hindustan Times health feature highlighted important pregnancy precautions during the monsoon, when humidity, infections, waterborne illnesses, food contamination, mosquito-borne diseases, and seasonal discomforts can affect maternal health. Dr. Smiti Jain, Consultant – Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Motherhood Hospitals, Greater Noida, advised expecting mothers to maintain hygiene, stay hydrated, eat freshly prepared food, avoid outside or undercooked food, use mosquito protection, wear comfortable clothing, and seek medical care for fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced fetal movement, or unusual symptoms.
