Doctors are raising concerns over how many women neglect their own health after childbirth while prioritising their children and family responsibilities. According to Dr. Thejaswini J from Motherhood Hospitals, preventive health checkups, cervical cancer screening, and HPV vaccination are commonly delayed by mothers due to exhaustion, lack of time, work pressure, and caregiving responsibilities. Experts warn that symptoms such as fatigue, irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, mood swings, hair fall, and weakness are often ignored despite potentially indicating thyroid disorders, anaemia, diabetes, hormonal imbalance, or postpartum depression. Doctors also stress the importance of timely Pap smears, HPV vaccination, blood sugar monitoring, thyroid tests, breast examinations, and mental health screening to detect long-term health risks early and ensure better postpartum care for women.
