A recent Indian Express feature highlighted the critical role of oxytocin injections in preventing severe bleeding after C-section deliveries, especially in the wake of reported maternal deaths in Kota linked to suspected fake doses. Dr. Swati Ajit Gaikwad, Consultant – Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Motherhood Hospital, Kharadi, Pune, explained that oxytocin helps the uterus contract after childbirth, reduces the risk of postpartum haemorrhage, supports maternal safety, and must be genuine, properly stored, and administered under medical supervision.
