Dr. Manjari S

Dr. Manjari S graduated with M.B.B.S. from Madurai Medical College and also holds a PG Diploma in Public Health from the University of Otago, New Zealand. With the main interest to work with mothers and babies, Dr. Manjari S got certified in Lactation and started Dr. Manjari S’s journey as a Lactation Professional in a hospital setup, and has 4+ years of experience in the field. Dr. Manjari S is currently practicing at Motherhood Hospital, Coimbatore.

Dr. Manjari S provides breastfeeding education in the antenatal period. Dr. Manjari S counsels mothers and babies at the postnatal ward after birth (as per referral, currently) with an individualized care plan. Dr. Manjari S counsels mothers of babies who require NICU admission, beginning from support needed for establishing milk supply, breast pump usage support, milk storage guidance, and feeding babies using alternate methods until the baby is able to transition to direct breastfeeding. Dr. Manjari S has experience of having supported mother - baby dyads, where in the baby had to undergo surgery. Dr. Manjari S has experience in dealing with and counseling mothers who have babies with feeding difficulties that also involve cleft palate and tethered oral tissue. Dr. Manjari S also provides continuity of care, after discharge, with follow-up at the outpatient department, on need and difficulty basis. Dr. Manjari S has extended her support to mothers in their weaning journey as well as in the back-to-work breastfeeding journey. Dr. Manjari S is also certified in Infant Massage, which adds as an additional support to help babies in their feeding journey.

Apart from this, in the previous workplace, Dr. Manjari S was in the core team in the setting up of the milk bank (Kamadenu - Human Milk Bank) and has been in charge of the milk bank under the supervision of the Department head. Dr. Manjari S has provided mentoring support in terms of observation for newly certified and joining counselors at the hospital. Dr. Manjari S has been involved in the World Breastfeeding Week activities annually, by creating awareness within the hospital premises through materials and activities. Dr. Manjari S has been invited as a guest speaker to outside venues like PSG College of Nursing, PSG College of Arts and Science, and Shanthi Ashram to cater to the specific audience.
