ANTENANTAL CARE

Nuchal Translucency (NT) Scan

When you are pregnant, many things are running across your mind, thousands of question and millions of doubts. Will my delivery go okay? Will my baby be healthy? Is my child going to be normal? Etc. Hang in there mama, cause there are tests and scans that you can do to rule out a few of the doubts that you are having.

Nuchal translucency or NT scan is one of them. NT scan is used to predict the possibility of a chromosomal abnormality in your unborn child.

The Earliest Scans of Pregnancy

An early pregnancy ultrasound, often called a dating scan pregnancy appointment, confirms your baby’s location, estimates your due date, and checks for a heartbeat, usually between six and nine weeks. This first trimester ultrasound sets the timeline for the rest of your antenatal care and is often the first time parents see their baby. Many parents describe this appointment as an emotional milestone in itself, seeing their baby clearly for the first time on screen.
