Multiple Pregnancy Scan

Pregnancy complications can occur from improper prenatal care and pre-existing conditions, or for no obvious reason at all. But most complications are treatable if detected early. Finding out that you are expecting more than one baby is often a mix of excitement and surprise.

Along with the joy comes a lot of questions about what the months ahead will look like, and regular scans are one of the best ways to stay informed and reassured. They give your care team a clear picture of how your pregnancy is progressing and help you feel prepared at every stage. Understanding why these scans matter, and keeping up with each appointment, can make the journey feel far more comfortable for you and your family.

Scanning a Multiple Pregnancy

A multiple pregnancy scan is used to confirm and monitor a pregnancy involving more than one baby, and tends to follow a somewhat different schedule than a single pregnancy. Multiple pregnancy ultrasound appointments are typically more frequent, since growth and wellbeing need to be tracked for each baby individually rather than as a single combined assessment. Twin pregnancies and higher order multiples both follow this closer monitoring pattern, adjusted specifically to how many babies are involved.
